The Invisible Girl

‘I’m a nobody. Nobody knows I exist.’ Hanna said to her best friend.

‘What? What do you mean? I’m standing next to you and talking to you, so obviously that means someone knows you’re here.’ I replied.

‘I mean that nobody notices me, or all they do is talk or laugh at me. I hate this school!’ Hanna exclaimed.

‘Wow, drama queen! You’ve got great friends and the awesomest best friend ever…Me! Why do you say that people look at you funny?’ I asked as we reached our lockers.

‘Well, you know me. It’s all about boys and stuff. When I walk down the hall, with my hair all perfect, make-up in place and uniform strategically arranged, I don’t even get a second glance. Aarrgghh High School is ruining my life!!!’ Hanna slammed her locker closed and stormed off to her home room class.

‘What’s wrong with her?’ Taylor asked me.

‘Woah, hey! What? Why are you talking to me?’ I jumped away as me tapped me on the back.

Taylor laughed. ‘Relax Lani. It’s just me, Taylor.’

‘Right…Taylor…and I know you how?’ I asked.

‘I sit next to you in maths class. Remember? You give me all the answers?’

‘Ahhh…Taylor, yeah now I know you. And I don’t give you the answers; you take my book when you think I won’t notice. Why are you talking to me? You’ve never talked to me before.’

Taylor was what you’d call ‘Popular’ and he had the intelligence of my goldfish.

‘Well, I’m sure I’ve talked to you. Anyway, I just heard Hanna yelling about something and I wondered if she was alright.’

‘Hanna? You know Hanna? How the hell do you know Hanna? And why do you care?’ Now I was suspicious.

‘Who doesn’t know Hanna? She’s like the most prettiest girl in school.’ Taylor replied.

‘Ah, I see what’s going on. Taylor likes Hanna. Taylor likes Hanna!’ I yelled.

‘Shut Up would you?’ Taylor said without denying the fact.

Great, so my best friend was running around believing she was invisible when the most popular guy in school was in love with her. Typical; she got all the excitement.
