Miss Mei’s Diary Full of Disasters

Hello. My name is Mei Lien Seiy and I was born on Maui. My mother, Lien was Chinese and my father, Kon was Vietnamese. I have a twin sister named Anna. I am 16. Now I will give my diary to some of my friends and some of them will write of disasters that have happened to them when I was around or things that happened because of me. The first disaster was written by my best friend Petunia. I was 10 when this incident happened.

“I was with Mei and my friend Crystale. We were going to a school dance. Unfortunately we were running terribly late because we all took too long to choose our clothes. The dance was across the oval, which was soaking wet from a very wet couple of days of heavy rain. All the other children went around the oval but because we were late, Mei decided to run across the oval to save time. So off she ran with Crystale and I following in hot pursuit. We made it half way across the ground, when Mei went head first into the mud. Crystale and I couldn’t stop because we were so close to Mei, so we tripped over her and I did a double somersault and landed with my face in the muck. Crystale fell over the both of us and landed on her bottom, ruining her lovely dress. Then we decided to race back to Crystale’s house where Mei and I had left a spare pair of clothes in case one of us got dirty. When we got there we dried our hair. When our hair was dry we put on our spare clothes and ran back to the dance. This time we decided to go around the ground but we still ran. We did not make it in time. Everyone was leaving so we thought we had better go home before the teacher told us off. Oh No! The teacher was heading our way. So we walked her way. She talked to us about not being there. We did not get in trouble by the teacher but we did get in trouble by our mother’s who had to clean our clothes.

Now I will give Mei’s diary to another one of her friends named Lawesea.

I read the last story and I thought it was bad. I also thought my story would be shorter but have much more disasters in it. At the time Mei and I were both eleven. O.K. now for the story. Mei and I were the office monitors, which meant we had to give out newsletters to the teachers and other things they needed. It was a Monday morning and things were going to plan except that Mei was so late I had to get someone else to help me do it. That is a bad thing if you are one of the best monitors in the class. I had to get this girl who knew nothing about this so I asked the teacher if someone else could do the job. The teacher said yes and I got one of Petunia’s friends to help. It was going smoothly until we had done one building and we had three left. At the start of the next she lost it. She started giving out the wrong letters to the wrong teacher. The teachers blamed me all because of her mistakes. When Mei got back the teachers said of how bad I was but I know it was Petunia’s friends fault. I ended up losing my job and so did Mei. Mei wasn’t even there. The teachers got Petunia and her friend to do the job. They were punished when things went horridly wrong.

Now it is Ginavere’s turn to write her story.

It feels as if I’ve known Mei since I was little. I met her in grade 1. That was eleven years ago. I am now thirteen and Mei is twelve. This incident happened when Mei was eleven turning twelve.

It was Mei’s birthday party. She had invited her best friend Petunia, Crystale, Lawesea, Tina and Me. I was the first one there. Next came Crystale. Then the order was Lawesea, Petunia and Tina was last. When everyone was seated at the dining table, Mei’s mother brought out lunch. Everything went fine through lunch and then we went outside. After around thirty minutes of play it was time for the cake. Mei’s mother put the candles on it and we sung happy birthday to Mei. Mei also had a cat, which loved shiny things. In this case the candles. Just as Mei blew out the candles, the cat attacked the cake. Pieces of cake went flying. That was a mess to clean up indeed. Now I will tell you about Mei’s friends.

Mei is now sixteen. I am turning seventeen in a few months. Petunia is turning seventeen and so is Crystale. Lawesea is turning eighteen. Tina is younger than all of us and is sixteen. One other friend who couldn’t make the party was Cornelia. Cornelia was the prettiest of all of us. She is sixteen. Her birthday was in the middle of Mei’s and Tina’s.
